Abstract
Several scholars have noted that many verbal similarities exist between Isa. 1 and Isa. 66, or 65-66. This study expands upon these observations by demonstrating that chs. 63-66 have been deliberately patterned after the opening unit of Proto-Isaiah, 1.2-2.4. Furthermore, there are some specific correspondences between chs. 1 and ch. 66 that seem to indicate that ch. 66 has been reworked by yet another author who received the text after the insertion of the secondary introduction at 2.1, which breaks up the first unit of the text. Chapter 65 also is the product of this second author, designed to expand the cultic focus of the original text of chs. 63-66.
