The article begins by showing the existence of a religious imagery that permeates the Chnstian Lebanese nationalist discourse, particularly that of the Phalangist Party. It then proceeds to show how this religious dimension evolved at the hands of Lebanese Forces' leader Bashir Gemayel until it became a fundamentalist political project in its own nght following Gemayel's assassination
