Abstract
This article discusses the particular needs of in-service students in relation to their fieldwork education. The experience that occupational therapy assistants and technical instructors bring to fieldwork, the areas of responsibility with which they must be concerned in the transition between the workplace and the fieldwork setting, and the role conflicts that might arise during their professional education are explored. Some ways in which line managers and fieldwork educators might assist in the process prior to, during and following fieldwork education are discussed.
