The mucopolysaccharidoses are a group of inherited diseases characterised by the abnormal storage of mucopolysaccharides in the tissues. Affected children manifest varying degrees of physical, intellectual and behavioural symptoms. In order to implement the most effective forms of therapy, counselling and advice to affected families, occupational therapists must be aware of the nature of the disorders and their progression and prognosis.
