Abstract
The first occupational therapy college in the Arab Middle East opened its doors in September 1989. Situated at the Farah Royal Jordanian Rehabilitation Centre within the King Hussein Medical Centre in Amman, Jordan, this educational establishment is a joint project between the General Union of Voluntary Societies and the National Medical institution. This article reviews the background to the project and the first year of the occupational therapy course, A later article will deal with the second and third years of the course and associated developments.
