This article reports the results of a pilot study which set out to design and validate an instrument for the measurement of factors which contribute to work-related stress in a sample of UK-based occupational therapists. One hundred and fifty-six therapists practising in the South West of England participated in the study and the instrument was shown to be a highly reliable and valid tool of measurement. In addition, a preliminary examination of the data highlighted six factors as contributing to work-related stress in this sample group. The article outlines the methodology employed and discusses in some detail the findings in terms of factor content.
