Abstract
The extension of general management throughout the health service and the accompanying emphasis on quality assurance have increased the need for service evaluation. This small case study Illustrates how such evaluation can be undertaken and how It can encompass management changes. A range of evaluative Instruments was administered during 6 months of an occupational therapy service to elderly people in a large psychiatric hospital. The results Indicated that the service was effective and acceptable implications are drawn for the future uses of service evaluation within an occupational therapy service.
