The development of a method for setting standards of clinical supervision is described in this article. It is the first of a series of articles addressing the development of accreditation procedures for St Loye's School of Occupational Therapy, Exeter. The importance of the formal recognition of clinical experience for future developments in education for occupational therapy is discussed.
