This article is a descriptive account of using clay within the setting of a psychiatric day unit. It is Intended to act as a working guide for therapists who may be interested in setting up a similar group. The group has changed from a craft group to a therapeutic assessment and treatment group. Two case examples are provided, and the effectiveness of such a group and the types of client who may benefit are discussed briefly.
