Abstract
This article takes a look at the down-to-earth activity of horticultural therapy in a psychiatric setting as part of a work skills assessment unit. It is also a practical guide to gardening activities, the grading of horticultural therapy activities which can be used with any client group in a variety of clinical settings, and the problems and hazards which were encountered when setting up such a project. Horticultural therapy is the application of the activity of gardening, which can be selected and graded to suit individuals and groups of all ages, interests and abilities.
