Abstract
This research project aimed to establish the numbers and distribution of men and women entering occupational therapy training courses in the United Kingdom between 1985 and 1988. A questionnaire was sent to each of the 21 UK training schools then operating and the results tabulated. It was found that, although there was an increase both in the absolute number of men entering training and in the ratio of men to women, these increases were not statistically significant. There was a statistically significant difference between the ratio of men to women entering the in-service training courses and the ratio entering all other courses. The results are discussed and some possible reasons for differences observed are put forward.
