Abstract
The number of upper limb replantations is increasing, therefore a knowledge of the post-operative management is of importance for all hand therapists. The hand therapist is in an excellent position to deal with such cases, providing a comprehensive treatment programme to deal with physical, psychological, social and work problems. This paper illustrates, by the use of a single case study, the role of the hand therapist in the post-operative management of a replanted hand. Although it is acknowledged that each patient will present with differing problems related to the cause and level of amputation, the outline and stages of treatment will be similar in each case.
