This article describes an arm support for hemiplegic patients, developed by the rehabilitation team at the Querns Hospital. The device consists of an overhead gantry which can be fitted to a standard DHSS wheelchair; the arm is suspended at the elbow and wrist by springs and slings. So far 33 patients have used the gantry, which the authors believe prevents subluxation, increases awareness of the affected limb and helps reduce spasticity.
