Abstract
This article attempts to clarify the main physical and psychological factors which need to be considered when advising a person recovering from a CVA about his readiness to return to driving. Recognising the importance of this skill to the leading of a full and active life, the article stresses the need for a comprehensive series of tests on the patient. Once these have been successfully completed, appropriate modifications to the vehicle can be made and these are also detailed. The article acknowledges the change of attitude to disabled drivers by the community and mentions measures taken with regard to parking and access.
