Abstract
The aims for activities given to patients in the occupational therapy department of a medical rehabilitation centre, were classified according to guidelines used by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists1 to describe treatment aims. The greatest number of aims fell into the second category which was ‘to restore and/or reinforce functional capacities’. There were difficulties in deciding what the World Federation of Occupational Therapists had intended in their guidelines and also in deciding which categories to put the collected aims into.
