Abstract
Severely posturally handicapped children require laboratory fitted body support systems adaptable enough to cater for the child's feeding, working, playing and relaxing activities but laboratory designed seats have tended to be clinical rather than domestic, expensive and not sufficiently adaptable. This paper describes: 1. the development of a fitting and adjustment system compatible with a wide range of needs. 2. Methods to allow fining and adjustment to be easily and safely operated. 3. The chair should be of acceptable domestic quality.
