Abstract
Introduction:
The significance of stroke on occupational performance is well documented, yet there is a noticeable gap in the literature regarding perspectives from those impacted by stroke. This study aims to investigate the viewpoints of stroke survivors, caregivers, and professionals regarding post-stroke occupational performance in Iran.
Method:
This research employed a qualitative content analysis methodology. The study group comprised eight stroke survivors, three primary caregivers, and six occupational therapists. Data were collected through semistructured interviews held at participants’ preferred locations.
Results:
Data analysis revealed five key categories: impacts of the disease, impaired occupational performance, the person’s external environment, facilitating access to rehabilitation services, and educational support.
Conclusion:
Post-hospital discharge, stroke survivors encounter numerous obstacles. Gaining insight into their experiences and the illness’s effects on daily life can aid rehabilitation therapists in planning. Educational support is crucial for improving outcomes, and rehabilitation services can enhance occupational performance, complemented by educational resources for clients to benefit rehabilitation programs.
