The oxidation of wood by hydrogen peroxide in aqueous ammonia was studied in order to develop a method for producing cellulose and nitrogen-containing lignohumate fertilisers. Cellulose (in ≤54.6% yield) containing up to 1.1% lignin and liquor containing nitrogen-containing lignin compounds were obtained.
