The results are given of work on creating a low-flammability vibration-damping material based on a non-drying sealant by using chlorinated butyl rubber and non-toxic fireproofing agents (aluminium and magnesium hydroxides) in the sealant composition. The possible chemical reactions during thermal action on the material and their role in the formation of coke residue are analysed. The prospects for practical use of the material are shown.
