This article investigates the link between the properties of PET flakes and the quality of hollow fibre extruded from them. Demonstrates that to increase the void fraction in the fibre, the degree of stretching of the fibre melt during moulding needs to be increased; this will make the walls of the moulded fibre thinner and will consequently cause a rise in the void fraction in the fibre.
