New polyazomethine esters were obtained by low-temperature polycondensation on the basis of aromatic dialdehydes and 4,4′-diaminotriphenylmethane in an aprotic solvent. The polymers synthesised are low-melting substances with good solubility in organic solvents and concentrated sulphuric acid. The optimum conditions for the production of high-molecular-weight polyazomethine esters were determined, and their mesomorphic properties were investigated.
