Abstract
At present, the options for the matting of silicone sealants, which may be required for technical or fashionable reasons, are very unsatisfactory and associated with detrimental impacts on the rheological and/or technical properties of the sealants.
This paper describes the use of a new type of matting agent for silicone sealants. In addition to the matting effects, it discusses the impacts on the rheological, mechanical and optical properties of matted silicone sealants of this type. Additional information is provided in the form of photographs and measurements of the surface roughness of matted sealants.
