The Alcohol Dependence Scale (Skinner and Horn, 1984) was administered to a representative sample of Canadian male offenders to determine the scale'sfactor structure and internal reliability, and to give some evidence of its validity. Results indicate that theADS may be a useful tool in the treatment planning for inmates with alcohol use histories.
