Abstract
A secure residential treatment program for severely acting out adolescents is described. Of 150 adolescents discharged from treatment over the past four years, a sub-group of 29 is identified on the basis of their multiply acting out pattern. Early parental separation data and follow up data support the con clusion that this may be a distinct clinical subgroup, behaviorally and prognostically different from other types of delinquent or antisocial personalities. Prognosis for them is poor, and it is suggested that by early diagnosis, it may be possible to devise new and innovative treatment for this group.
