Abstract
Journalist Anna Bikont recently conducted a series of interviews with Polish censors, who are still very much in existence. Subsequently, on 8 January 1990, she published in the Warsaw-based independent daily Gazeta Wyborcza excerpts from those interviews — without adding one single word of commentary. The resulting monologues of twenty worried and flabbergasted men and women read like a script for the theatre of the absurd. They were translated from the Polish by Jacek Laskowski
