Special Feature: After the Purge

In this special feature, we ask two writers to look back at what happened in Czechoslovakia in 1969 when it was under occupation by Soviet-led forces and to discuss what is happening to freedoms in Slovakia today. Samuel Abrahám, who fled Czechoslovakia as a teenager after the Soviets invaded, considers the challenges to media freedom and democracy and Miriam Sherwood, the granddaughter of satirist Ján Kalina, talks about her show and reflects on his work and her concerns about his homeland
