The book quotes ‘An Anatomy of the British War on Woke’ by Huw Davies and Sheena MacRae in Race & Class 65, no. 2 (2023) showing that writers from Spiked and UnHerd have been given regular columns in the traditional right-wing media and appeared fifty-seven times on the ‘systematically woke’ BBC’s Question Time.

On 29 July 2024, three young girls, aged 6 to 9, were killed in a mass stabbing at a dance studio in Southport, Merseyside, UK. In the following weeks, far-right orchestrated riots broke out across the UK, fuelled by false claims that the perpetrator of the attack was a Muslim asylum-seeker.
