In 2018, an escalation in far-right demonstrations took place in the UK in response to the arrest and then jailing of Tommy Robinson, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, for contempt of court for filming outside Leeds Crown Court during an ongoing child sexual abuse trial. In October 2018, the so-called Democratic Football Lads Alliance marched in London under the banner ‘Justice for Women and Children’ with placards protesting ‘rape gangs and groomers’.
