Abstract
In this interview, Roberto Regalado discusses changes in Cuba, influences of the Soviet model, and the need for alternative forms of democratic development. He offers an overview on the history of Latin American revolutionary efforts, the new social movements, and their political impact on the thinking of traditional left parties. Regalado also reflects on the difficulties and opportunities of left and progressive governments in power and the balance of continental forces.
