Pretraining scores from an experimental college version of the Musical Aptitude Profile (CMAP) were analysed as predictors of music major achievement. Scores were collected from 23 students over a two-year time span, and a stepwise multiple regression analysis was performed. Significance occurred for CMAP scores as predictors of end of first-year sight-singing scores. No significance occurred for CMAP scores as predictors of applied music ratings or ear training scores.
