Tomorrow Today: Social Experimentation and Changing Life-Styles *

Abstract

This paper provides an analysis based on the findings of a survey of social experimentation in a wide range of spheres. The survey is currently in progress, mainly in industrialized countries. Rather than collate these experiences or classify them into types,¹ the paper analyses them from a twofold interest: first, the conceptual and theoretical challenge they pose in the search for alternative forms of development and life-styles, and, secondly, the practical strategy they indicate in respect of the points of intervention in the social space in order to meet such a challenge.
