Abstract

I am writing this Editorial as I watch the Indian team win the Gold medal in the Asian Games in Hangzhou in the Women’s Kabaddi finals and thus aptly help India cross the hundred mark (and counting) in the medals tally. A phenomenal growth from the 70 medals at the 2018 games in Indonesia. Statistically speaking the nearly 50% improvement did not and could not have happened by chance. Years of hard work and planning are visible. My mind then wandered naturally to Orthodontics and the status of Indian Orthodontic publications in the Asian and global scenario. Currently, my understanding is that India’s contribution is around the 10% mark.
The Indian Orthodontic Society, the association with the world’s largest number of Orthodontist, in conjunction with the Journal of the Indian Orthodontic Society and the Journal of Contemporary Orthodontics will have a series of online and offline sessions to aid the contemporary orthodontist to publish in today’s scenario. These have been tentatively scheduled as online sessions in the months of December 2023, and March and June 2024, culminating in an offline session in August 2024. Our sincere thanks to the Indian Orthodontic Society, especially the President, Dr Jayesh Rahalkar and the Honorary Secretary, Dr Sanjay Labh for their efforts in this direction.
We hope to have some of the best in the field of Publications to enlighten us to become better and occupy our rightful position in the global research and publication arena. Hope you will all join us in making this calendar event an event to remember. Watch the IOS website and social media for further information.
