Abstract
In order to study possible metastatic localization into the lymph nodes direct lymphangiography following the technique suggested by Kinmonth was carried out on 17 patients with cancer of the urinary bladder. A liposoluble contrast medium was used. On the basis of the reported results and of those obtained in other neoplastic diseases at the Cancer Institute of Milan and the Institute of Radiology of the University of Milan, the radiological picture which allows a diagnosis of metastatic involvement of lymph nodes is outlined. The limitations of the new method and the prospects offered in the field of urinary bladder tumors are discussed. In the authors’ opinion lymphangiography often represents a helpful procedure for the evaluation of the metastatic spread and for the choice of the surgical therapy.
