Abstract
Testosterone propionate and 4-hydroxy-17 alfa-methyl-19-nortestosterone are being tested against a mouse mammary tumor growing in vitro, treated with 10 μg/cc for 8-9-12 days. The general procedure used in these tests have been indicated. Testosterone inhibits the tumor growth without influencing its cytological differentiation. The inhibiting action of testosterone is accompanied by regressive phenomena of the tumor elements. 4-hydroxy-17 alfa-methyl-19-nor-testosterone inhibits strongly the tumor growth with a decrease in mitosis number. It is possible sometimes to observe mitosis with lagging chromosomes. The histopathological structures are not influenced by hormonal treatment.
