Abstract
The problem of the thyroid tumors from branchial origin and of the presence of oncocytes in the thyroid gland is reviewed, from the histologic and histogenetic standpoint. Two cases of thyroid adenolymphomas are presented: the first, cherry-sized, in a 37-years-old woman, the second, three centimeters in diameter, in a 35-years-old woman. Within the tumors acidophilic large epithelial cells and lymphatic tissue with cystic structures were found to be closely packed; in one case, papillary aspects were also observed. The possibility is emphasized of the occurrence, in the thyroid gland, of true branchiogenic adenolymphomas, whic hare supposed to show both a benign and malignant biological activity.
