Comportamento Di Alcuni Enzimi Serici Durante Il Trattamento Con Au 198 Nelle Neoplasie Genitali (*)

Abstract

Researches have been extended to the general reactivity of the organism against the radiating attack of the radioactive gold. The behaviour of some enzymes –- glutamico-oxalacetic transaminase, piruvic transaminase, aldolase, alcaline and acid phosphatase –- has been studied. In those cases in which the radioactive material has been intraperitoneally introduced the observations, carried out from 3 to 6 days after the introduction of the radio-gold, showed an increased aldolase level and a modification of the SGOT/SGPT ratio consisting in a fall under basal values. No fosfatase changes have been observed. The data obtained, in accordance with those from the literature, suggest an impairment of the liver cell, presumably due to the action of the Au¹⁹⁸. An intensive hepato-protective therapy is so advised in all subjects requiring such radiating therapy through intraperitoneal route. The intratissural introduction of the Au¹⁹⁸ does not seem to cause hepatic reactions, probably because the transport function is less rapid and the potentiality of the radioactive material is exhausted within the tumor site.
