Abstract
180 cases of brain neoplasms were surgically and histologically investigated. Basing on the morphological characteristics of the pathological circulation (observed in 80 cases, or the 44.4 per cent), the possibility of an angiographic diagnosis of benignity, malignancy and histological type is discussed.
It is stated that in glioblastomas, meningiomas and metastases a rather uniform angiographic picture of the pathological circulation exists, on which a radiological diagnosis may be established.
The causes of error and the limitations in the differential diagnosis for the various tumour types are indicated; a thorough analysis of all data derived from angiographic, craniographic and clinical observations is advised.
Following the exposed procedure, a precise diagnosis of the tumour type has been possible in the 50 per cent about of the cases.
