Abstract
Earlier researches had confirmed the increased activity of the urinary beta-glucuronidase in patients with malignant tumours of the urinary bladder and the chronological priority of this phenomenon with respect to the possible neoplastic occurrence in benzidine workers. The present paper is concerned with the behaviour of the enzyme in the blood of patients bearing vesical tumour. Aim of the research was to establish at what level the increase of the beta-glucuronidase activity occurs. Results showed that also in blood serum the enzyme activity is usually increased with respect to normal. The degree and the frequency of the increase are, however, less significant than in urines; nevertheless, the increase of the enzyme activity in the cases of vesical tumours is to be considered of haematic origin.
