Abstract
In serum of patients with cancers the variations of the electrophoretic pattern of proteins (hypoalbuminemia, hyper-alpha-2- and hyper-gamma-globulinemia) are accompanied by a deviated behaviour of the protein-bound carbohydrates: hyperglycoproteinemia (with an almost parallel increase of hexose, hexosamine and sialic acid levels) caused by an elevation of the carbohydrate percentage in the alpha-1 and alpha-2-globulins.
As to evaluate the clinical interest of such alterations, which do not show any difference in the various neoplastic localisations, the Authors examinate their importance in the diagnosis of cancers, study their behaviour regarding to diffusions and metastatisation of the disease, and follow their changes in respect to therapy.
