Abstract
Results obtained with Triethylenethiophosphoramide (ThioTepa) in the palliative treatment of advanced and recurrent tumours are referred. 55 patients were divided into two groups: in the first, out of 32 women with metastatic mammary carcinoma, a definite improvement was observed in 22 cases. In the second group, including 23 patients with tumours different for site and histological features, noteworthy results were observed not only in patients with hormonodependent tumours (prostate, thyroid, ovary) but even in some patients with carcinoma of the colon, stomach and lung. A mediastinal reticulosarcoma and a craniopharyngioma had temporary improvement. The results obtained and the good tolerability of the drug show ThioTepa to be profitable palliative means for the therapy of advanced and recurrent tumours.
