Abstract
Starting from recent immunological studies on reactive C protein (RCP) which pointed to the possibility of employing this reaction as a test for benign and malignant tumours, the problem was centered in respect of genital oncology. An investigation was carried out on 94 patients hospitalized in the Gynecological Department of the Cancer Institute of Milan. It is concluded that RCP, though representing theoretically an immunologic test of great interest, cannot be relied upon as a differentiating test between benign and malignant tumour; presumably, it may be only considered as the result of a particular behaviour of the electrophoretic pattern, susceptible of modifications also due to other causes.
