Abstract
Four patients with advanced mammary cancer, previously subjected to oophorectomy, have been treated with DDD (1,1-dichloro-2.2-bis(p-chlorophenyl)ethane). In two cases a marked reduction of the primary and metastatic tumour was observed: here, the 17-ketosteroids value was found to be diminished and the appearance of a particular cytological picture (« E » picture) was observed in the vaginal smear. This particular aspect had been already found by the Authors in earlier researches in patients with metastatic mammary cancer improved after bilateral oophorectomy and mono- and bilateral adrenalectomy.
