Abstract
The passible occurrence is prospected of a prostatic carcinoma spreading by « intraepithelial propagation » along the urethral mucous membrane up to the urinary bladder. 4 cases are reported, in which endoscopical and cytological examination of the bladder suggests this possibility. The return to normal of both the endoscopical and cytological examinations following estrogen therapy gave a confirmation of the prostatic origin of the cancer cells detected in the vesical sediment. The recognition of such a possibility is of the utmost practical importance mainly for therapeutical purposes, since a unitarian treatment may be able to control the primary tumour and its vesical derivation.
