Abstract
Data on the importance of sterols in the biochemism of tumour cells are briefly exposed, particularly as concerns the enhanced cholesterol turnover of the cell.
An investigation has been carried out on the effects of a substance enhancing the endogenous biosynthesis (methylnaphthoquinone) and of a compound inhibiting it (phenylethylacetic acid).
In rats the naphthoquinone derivatives with vitamin activity were found to stimulate the development rate of sarcoma Galliera. As for phenylethylacetic acid, microscopical ponderal data did not show any action.
