Abstract
After an evposition of elements suggesting a carcinoresistance of the first duodenal portion, the hypothesis is advanced that the phenomenon rests on functional rather than on anatomical grounds, with a prevalence of the hormonal function of the duodenum. It is suggested that the antitumoral principle could be represented in the duodenum either by a still unknown incretion or a still uncompletely known hormonal complex. A trial of cancer therapy with large doses of extracts from the mucous membrane of the first duodenal portion is therefore advised.
