The present researches are derived from the frequent observation of epidermal hyperplastic-dysplastic processes during subcutaneous carcinogenesis. Aim of this paper is to investigate the possible enhancement of such processes through experimental summation conditions. The results obtained on rats bearing benzpyrene sarcoma and kept in vitamine A deficiency are referred. In opposition to what expected, a hyperdifferentiating action due to vitamine deficiency (hypotrophy, sclerosis, hyperkeratosis) and a reduction or disappearence of the hyperplastic processes were observed.
