Abstract
343 patients with mammary carcinoma at the I, II and III stage according to Steinthal have been treated by pre-operatory roentgentherapy in the Cancer Department of Novara (from 1-1-1939 to 31-12-1949) Results are referred. The following percentages of survival free of symptomatology were obtained.
5 years after operation: 2,3 per cent for all the patients under observation (343); 65 per cent for the patients at the I and II stage according to Steinthal (245); 24,5 per cent for those at the III stage or intermediate between the II and III stage.
10 years after operation: 37 per cent for all patients without consideration of the stage (135); 48 per cent for those at the I and II stage according to Steinthal (95); 10 per cent for those at the II stage or intermediate between the II and III stage.
