In a double blind trial, 279 patients who had a myocardial infarction less than eighteen hours previously were divided into three groups and given tablets of Practolol, 50 mg 6-hourly, D-Propranolol, 50 mg 6-hourly and Placebo respectively for 5 days during which period their ECG was continuously monitored. No definite protection from dysrhythmia was observed.
