The instructional benefits and limitations of using note-taking guides in mass lecture sections are outlined, and suggestions for developing and using note-taking guides are provided. For instructors willing to make the time investment to construct a note-taking guide, the payoff in terms of enhanced classroom effectiveness is dramatic.
