Abstract
The four key components in successfully placing disabled children in foster care are: (a) the identification and recruitment of stable, motivated, and qualified foster parents: (b) the preparation and instruction of foster parents to provide specialized care; (c) the support of foster parents through resources and services that reduce the unusually heavy demands of caring for a child with disabilities; and (d) the development of creative alternative care arrangements that recognize the strength of both biological and foster families. These program components are discussed.
